Tonight the Angels will begin a three game series against division rivals Seattle Mariners to close out a quick six game home-stand. Los Angeles is coming off another gem thrown by Jered Weaver who defeated the Chicago White Sox 3-1 on Wednesday.

MLB's amateur draft is quickly approaching. LA Times reporter Kevin Baxter takes a look and speaks with Eddie Bane about the Angels plans. If you guessed High School short-stops and left handed pitchers, you win a prize.

All kidding aside, Bane does confess to Steve Bisheff that the Angels have done a poor job at developing power hitters, especially in the corner outfield positions saying

"If we like a pitcher much better at one of those spots, we'll take him. But if it's close, between a pitcher and a hitter with power, we'll go with the power."

Personally, I like the sound of that.

Torii Hunter talks to the OC Register about his defense.

In this man's opinion Hunter's got to be one of the early candidates for MVP, however the All Star voting public doesn't seem to be paying attention. Torii is currently 11th in fan voting behind the .220 hitting Ken Griffey.

Do your democratic duty and exercise your vote. Hunter in 2009!

Riding a 15 game hitting streak, Chone Figgins reflects on his baseball mentors.

Kelvim Escobar completed another stellar rehab start on Wednesday night. Escobar will likely make one more start before rejoining the Angels on Monday for the Salt Lake City Bees putting him in line to debut for the Angels Saturday June 6 in Detroit.

After Wednesday's game the Angels placed Scot Shields on the disabled list and recalled reliever Rich Thompson.

John Lackey feels the handcuffs are off as he facing the Mariners tonight.
