Angels defeated the Giants yesterday 5-4 on a walk off homer by Brad Coon
Mike Scioscia thinks the Angels have the right pieces to win despite losing Mark Teixeira.
My take, I hope he's right but I'm wary. I think the A's have done a much better job in trying to put together a contending team this Winter and Spring. The Angels have a lot of faith in Kendry Morales, Juan Rivera and Howie Kendrick. The outfield isn't getting any younger with Torii Hunter, Bobby Abreu and the newly older Vladimir Guerrero.
The Angels do plan on letting Morales grow into the starting job and you wont see them give up on him quickly. This is something I do think is best. The worst thing that can happen to a young player is the manager pulling him from the line up after 2 or 3 bad weeks.
Jose Arredondo is out of the WBC with a strained hip flexor.
This is weird.
John Lackey will start today in Tucson against Dan Haren and the D'Backs. Yesterday his agent and Angels GM Tony Reagins held preliminary talks regarding a contract extension. Good to see.
The only regulars in the today's lineup will be Erick Aybar and Jeff Mathis. Brandon Wood starts at 3rd base today. He's off to a nice start batting .429 with a .786 slugging.
