It's been a tough week in Angel-ville to say the least. So much has been written about the Nick Adenhart tragedy already that I thought with this column we'll try and focus on the games as much as possible.
If you want to discuss the events of last week as well as the rest of the season with fellow Angel fans I encourage you to sign up for the Angelswin forum where you can share you thoughts and feelings.
Steve Bisheff of the LA Times looks back at the most traumatic opening week ever.
Jeff Miller of the OC Register suggests the Angels ban beer sales for a night.
Torii Hunter urges everybody to think about their actions after they've had a drink.
Reggie Willits was recalled for Saturday's game vs. Boston. Obviously this wasn't the way he wanted to return to the Angels.
Now, back to the games. The Angels took 2 of 3 against the Boston Red Sox this weekend.
Josh Beckett is trash. In case you didn't see the incident where Beckett threw at Bobby Abreu's head after he called "time out" here's the video footage. You know it's pretty bad when the Boston announce team isn't defending him. There is not place for that in the game. Beckett did have every right to release the pitch, but he should have thrown to his catcher, not at Bobby Abreu.
Mike Scioscia had some words for umpire Joe West regarding Beckett's actions.
Injury updates.
Kelvim Escobar was shut down due to tightness in his shoulder. John Lackey and Ervin Santana however are both progressing well.
Vladimir Guerrero isn't ready to make throws from the outfield and will continue to DH.
Anthony Ortega will likely get the call when the Angels need a 5th starter in Minnesota next week.
Monday the Angels are off and will travel to start a series vs. the Seattle Mariners. Tuesday's game will feature Shane Loux facing Carlos Silva.
