There is a lot going on at AngelsWin.com in the next few days. We wrapped up our MLB season preview package for all divisions today and our panel of writers will give their picks over the weekend for several categories. But there are two major events happening next week, on Monday and Tuesday, to which I want to alert you, the readers and members.
Monday is not only Opening Day for the Angels, as they host the Oakland Athletics at Angel Stadium; there is much more about which to be excited on April 6 than just that.
Update: On the Angels flagship radio station, KLAA AM 830, our Top-50 Greatest Moments in Angels History feature will air at 7:20 a.m., 9:20 a.m., 3:20 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. starting on April 13th. Originally it was to air on this day, but was pushed back to accommodate sponsors. These will be read by Angels play-by-play announcer Steve Physioc, one each day, counting down from No. 50 to No. 1. If you do not live in the Southland in order to hear these over the radio, make sure you stream them from KLAA's Website at http://am830.net.
AM830 and the morning show, the SportsLodge with Roger Lodge and Dave Smith will be broadcasting from the Newport Sports Museum at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. 100 Newport Center Drive, Suite 100, Newport Beach, CA.
The broadcast begins at 6 a.m. and gets our Opening Day Festivities going. Wienerschnitzel will be there serving Hot Dogs, and the Angel Strike Force Girls will be there as well with Angel Tattoos and Face Painting. We also expect Bill MacDonald, Rex Hudler, and Angel Alumni to join us for the festivities. There will be Angel giveaways as well, so get out there to Fashion Island early on Monday to kick in the 2009 Angels Baseball season.
Finally, at around 3 p.m. there will be a huge Opening Day pregame festivity held at Throwbacks Sports Bar and Grill — voted recently as the best Sports Bar in Southern California in a My Fox L.A. poll. Throwbacks, AM 830 and AngelsWin.com have a great relationship and will continue to work together all season. Head over to Throwbacks and mingle with a large group of AngelsWin.com members and Angels fans before the start of the 2009 season. Just make sure you have a designated driver to the ball game.
And make sure you wear your AngelsWin.com "Unfinished Business" T-Shirt with pride on Opening Day and all season long.
Just when you thought the Opening Day festivities were enough, on Tuesday, April 7, from 3-6 p.m. at Throwbacks, Angels announcer Rex Hudler will be broadcasting live on AM 830 and taking calls, talking with the fans, including a good number of AngelsWin.com members who will be there again to visit with him. Rex called AngelsWin.com "a city of Angels fans" after his recent visit with us in Tempe for our Spring Fanfest in March. If you've never met Rex, get to Throwbacks on Tuesday. Jason, Throwbacks' owner, will have some giveaways that night, including Angels tickets to Tuesday night's game against the A's. If you're unable to make it on Tuesday, Rex will be at Throwbacks before every Tuesday home game for the entire season, broadcasting live on AM 830 and the Internet.
AngelsWin.com has grown exponentially in the last few years and we want to thank you, the fans and members, for your support. Though we're an independent unofficial fan site of the Angels and not part of any blog network, we've totaled more than 4,000 daily readers and contributors, most of whom are just Angels fans. Your "City of Angels Fans" is troll free. We don't welcome trolls like other fan sites or blogs.
So, lots happening at AngelsWin.com — be sure to be a part of it all and look for new features coming soon, including Geoff Bilau's "Unfinished Business" commentary that will debut early Monday morning.
See you all at the ballpark!
