The Angels and Rangers both sit atop the AL West standings tonight as they meet for their three game series at the "Big A".
Torii Hunter and Brian Fuentes will be heading to St. Louis as part of the 2009 AL All Star team. Former Angels bench coach Joe Maddon snubs right-hander Jered Weaver for the 80 year-old Tim Wakefield who has an era over 4.00 and a whip over 1.30. Wakefield is also the 6th Red Sox to make the club. Earl Bloom of the OC Register also offers that Juan Rivera was snubbed as well. Rivera is certainly having a big season for the Halos, but the omission isn't as poor as Weaver or his opponent on Monday, Texas' Kevin Millwood. Bad form Joe Maddon, the All Star Game isn't about giving out lifetime achievement awards.
Chone Figgins is on the ballot for the All Star teams Final Vote.
It appears Vladimir Guerrero may be all the way back from his pectoral injury and season long slump. Against Baltimore this weekend, Guerrero drove in 7 runs and homered in back to back games. He also started Sunday's game in right-field.
Roster moves.
Howie Kendrick returned to the Angels on Saturday. Mike Scioscia will now rotate his infielders with Macier Izturis flipping between short and second.
Sean O'Sullivan was returned to Salt Lake due to the off day on Thursday. The Angels wanted to keep him on his normal schedule. Reggie Willits was recalled to give the team some speed off the bench.
