Around The Halo 7/17/09

The Angels are back after a few days off for the All Star Game and festivities.

Reliever Brian Fuentes and third basemen Chone Figgins were both selected to participate in the mid-season classic. Neither player got into the game. Figgins the literal last minute addition has fond memories. Meanwhile, Fuentes is disappointed he didn't get in the game after being told he'd pitch the 6th inning.

The Angels front office was also in St. Louis to take notes for the 2010 game which will they will host.

Last night the Angels got back at it against division foe Oakland. Ervin Santana returned to form pitching a stellar 8 innings for the win. This is a big boost for the club that hasn't seen the kind of consistency from the rotation or bullpen. Mike DiGiovanna takes a look at the team that seems to have reversed it's troubles from anemic hitting to anemic pitching.

Kendry Morales finally hit his first home run from the right side last night absolutely crushing a ball to deep center field in Oakland.

Torii Hunter blogs about being on the disabled list and having to miss the All Star Game.
