Around The Halo 8/5/09

The Angels headed into Tuesday's game riding a 5 game winning streak. Unfortunately it came to an end last night in the 9th inning in Chicago. That aside, the Angels are looking very strong at this juncture of the season. Currently your Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim sport a .606 winning percentage, the best in the American League.

Vladimir Guerrero returned to the lineup, batting 4th. It's great to have Vladdy back, but perhaps the 4th spot isn't where he should be after such a long lay off. Especially with the way the middle of the order (Bobby Abreu, Juan Rivera and Kendry Morales) have been swinging the bat. Regardless, the Angels have a better all around offense and another power threat with Guerrero involved.

The Angels continue to get healthy as center fielder Torii Hunter is set to begin a rehab assignment with the Arkansas Travelers. Hunter who grew up in nearby Pine Bluff is excited to come home and play in front of family and friends.

Congratulations are in order for both Bobby Abreu and Kendry Morales. Abreu won the AL Player of the Month award for July and Morales won the AL Player of the Week award.

Roster Moves

Bobby Wilson was returned to AAA Salt Lake City to make room for Vladimir Guerrero.
Sean Rodriguez was also returned to Salt Lake City to make room for Sean O'Sullivan. In his latest stint with the club, Rodriguez was 3-8 with 1 HR and 3 RBI.
