Sean Rodriguez, the 24 year old second baseman was hitting .299 BA, .400 OBP and a .616 SLG for the Salt Lake City Bees and looks to be in line to compete for the starting second baseman's job with the Rays in 2010 if they do not pick up Akinori Iwamura's $4.25 million dollar option. The move also gives the Rays the ability to keep Ben Zobrist as a right fielder.

In 9 games for the Angels this season Rodriguez hit .200 2 HR 4 RBI. In 71 career games with the Angels he bat .203 5 HR 15 RBI. He has a career .883 ops as a minor leaguer in the Angels organization.

The Miami native will report to AAA Durham for the Rays.
