April 17, 1987 saw the California Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 at Anaheim Stadium. Mike Witt pitched a complete game allowing three hits and striking out seven and Devon White hit a home run off losing pitcher Bert Blyleven. White was drafted by the Angels in the sixth round in 1981. He made his major league debut in 1985 but it was not until 1987 that he became a starter and would hit 24 home runs with 32 stolen bases in that year. White was selected to the All-Star team in 1989 and would win Gold Gloves in 1988 and 1989 playing for the Angels.
