Tuesday, April 19, 1966 the Chicago White Sox beat the California Angels 3-1 at Anaheim Stadium. In the game Tommy John would out-duel Angels starter Marcelino Lopez. Rick Reichardt would hit a home run for the halos for their only run. Anaheim Stadium became the home for the Angels after their move from Los Angeles in 1965, the same year they would change their name to the California Angels. Construction began on the stadium in August of 1964 as the Angels moved to Anaheim looking for a new home after playing at Wrigley Field in 1961 and Chavez Ravine from 1962-1965. The stadium opened on April 9, 1966 for an exhibition game but the teams first American League game there was April 19, 1966.
