April 27, 1981 in Oakland the California Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 3-2.  Ken Forsch would pitch a complete game allowing 2 runs and striking out 4, giving him his 3rd win of April.  In the game Don Baylor would drive in runs with a home run and sacrifice fly.  Baylor would also hit into a triple play, one of eight times opponents have accomplished this against the Angels. Also to date there have been 37 times where a player would hit a home run and hit into a triple play in the same game in the majors. The Angels would finish 51-59 in the A.L. West, good for 5th,  during 1981 in the strike shortened season. 1981 is when Gene Mauch would take over as manager mid-season replacing Jim Fregosi and lead the Angels to the American League West title the next year.
Love to hear what you think!
