This Day in Angels Baseball: April 7th, 1987

On opening day April 7, 1987 the California Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 7-1 at Anaheim stadium. In the game Brian Downing drove in three runs with two doubles and Mike Witt pitched a complete game, allowing one run and striking out 8. 1987 would be the last year Doug DeCinces would play for the Angels.  DeCinces was traded to the Angels in 1982 for Dan Ford when the Orioles were making room for Cal Ripken Jr. to play third base. DeCinces hit 130 of his career 237 home runs in his six years for the Angels and was on the American League All-Star team in 1983.
