Peter Bourjos (.296) had four hits on Sunday and is hitting .442 over his last ten games, including five stolen bases bring his total to 27 on the season. The power hitting Mark Trumbo has 20 home runs on the season, but lately he's been raising his average (.279) hitting .371 over his last ten games, despite not hitting a home run during that stretch. Trumbo has ten walks vs. seven strikeouts over that span as well. Hank Conger (.262) is 0-16 since his Futures Games MVP showing. Michael Kohn (1.85) earned his eighth save since his promotion to Triple-A. Opponents are batting just .181 off him in Triple-A.

The top two base stealers in the minors are Mike Trout and Travelers Tyson Auer, both with 45 on the season. Auer went 4-5 on Sunday with a home run and stolen base, raising his average to .321 with the Travs and .329 combined between High-A and Double-A on the season. After driving in three runs on Friday and clubbing a home run on Saturday, Roberto Lopez fanned all four times at the plate on Sunday. Lopez is hitting just .197 against Double-A pitching. Trevor Reckling (2.45) went 7.1 innings on Saturday and gave up four runs on seven hits, striking out two vs. three walks. It was Reckling's worst start since his demotion to Double-A. Will Smith (7.23) was solid on Sunday, giving up just one run in six innings of work. He did walk three vs. just one strikeout. The southpaw Andrew Taylor pitched two scoreless innings on Sunday, notching his third hold. Jordan Walden (3.58) pitched a scoreless inning on Sunday, lowering his ERA to 3.58 after a rough April in which his ERA was at 12.15 after seven appearances. Walden has 37 strikeouts in 37.2 innings of work this season.
Mike Trout hit his first home run while with the High-A Quakes club on Sunday, giving him seven on the season to go along with his 45 steals and .355 combined batting average. Trout is hitting just .222 to start things off with the Quakes, but he started off slow with the Cedar Rapids Kernels too. Clay Fuller hit just .168 with the Travelers in Double-A, but since being demoted to High-A with the Quakes, Fuller is hitting .329 with four home runs, 14 RBI and seven stolen bases. 3B Luis Jimenez (.269) had a home run in back to back games Friday and Saturday and notched a hit in all three of the games over the weekend. Jimenez had eight home runs on the season, 27 doubles and eight triples between Low-A and High-A ball thus far this season. Orangel Arenas pitched a solid six innings on Sunday, giving up two runs while striking out five. Jose Perez (3.83) in two innings of scoreless/hitless relief struck out five. Eddie McKiernan (2.97) earned his 19th save on the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
Cedar Rapids Kernels
Going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Cedar Rapids Kernels were losing 9-0. They scored two in the bottom of the fifth only to see the Lake County club answer with two more, making the score 11-2 going into the bottom of the sixth. The Kernels scored another run in the bottom of the sixth making it 11-3, but then went ballistic on the Lake County club scoring 14 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning, ultimately winning the game 18-11. The Kernels had 21 hits on the day and Jean Segura (.296) had three of them, two of which were triples. Stephen Locke who had three shutout starts out of his last four, was shelled on Sunday giving up nine runs on 12 hits, raising his ERA to 3.47. Garret Richards (3.61) had a quality start on Friday, giving up three runs in seven innings of work, while striking out seven and walking four.
