Two New Pitchers Arrive For IE 66ers Home Opener

Lay Batista and Baudilio Lopez Arrive In Time For First Game At San Manuel Stadium

San Bernardino, CA – The 66ers have added Lay Batista and Baudilio Lopez to the roster for the home opener against the High Desert Mavericks. They will replace Brian Diemer (right shoulder impingement) and Fabio Martinez (right foot fracture) on the active roster, with Diemer and Martinez going on the 7-day Disabled List.

Batista led the Arizona Summer League in innings pitched last year, tossing 64.2 for the Angels in 12 starts and 14 appearances. He joins the 66ers after starting the season in Cedar Rapids where he appeared in two games, throwing eight innings over which he allowed just one earned run.

Baudilio Lopez is joining an Angels High-A roster for the fourth straight year. He pitched for the 66ers in five games in 2011. He joins the 66ers from Arizona where he was in extended spring training.

The team opens the season with its two new players tonight on a Hanger 24 Thirsty Thursday. Tickets are on sale now both at the 66ers box office and online at www.66ers.com. For more information on the Inland Empire 66ers please contact Sam Farber, Director of Broadcasting, at 909-495-7632.
