There more than one way to make it in baseball. Some do so as players. Others do so as Front Office personnel. Most only do so at lower levels of the organization.

If you have followed the Angels organization long enough, you will remember a player named Ty Boykin. In 1991, he began his career with the Angels as a Minor League outfielder. In 1998, at age 28, he finished his stint as a player, reaching as high as Double-A. But, that did not end his baseball career. In 2000, he began managing with the Angels at Cedar Rapids. Over the next decade he managed at various levels for the Angels, working with many players on the parent Club.

Today, Ty is the Angels Roving Outfield/Baserunning and Hunting instructor. Everyday he works to refine those skills with players throughout the organization. He is making the Major Leagues one player at a time.

Click below to watch our interview with Coach Boykin. He tells us how the Angels develop players at the lowest levels to instill those skills necessary for future success. This is a must-see for any Angels fan.
