There is no doubt, 2 of the main pieces of the future of baseball are play in Anaheim. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have what people are calling the "TNT" boys, Trout and Trumbo. As of the morning of July 22nd, 2012, listed below are the stats (including sabermetrics) that are notable for both players. Simply enough, the Angels have some very key players in Trout and Trumbo, the TNT boys... Mark Trumbo, born and raised in Southern California, and also grew up an Angels fan, enjoyed hitting 14 Home Runs in the State Farm Home Run Derby, and ended up placing 3rd, while Mike Trout collected a hit in the All Star Game in his Rookie Year, along with a Stolen Base off of R.A. Dickey, the first against him all year. Again, below are listed the stats and sabermetrics for these young phenoms.
Mike Trout:
.357 Batting Average (1st in the American League)
105 Hits, 15 Home Runs, 69 Runs, 47 RBI, and 31 Stolen Bases (leads MLB)
Mark Trumbo:
.303 Batting Average
98 Hits, 27 Home Runs (Tied for 3rd, trails Adam Dunn and Jose Bautista who both have 28),
48 Runs, 66 RBI (Tied for 5th in AL)
Here are the stats known as "sabermetrics", also known as, really, really detailed stats:
Mike Trout:
RC27 (Runs Created per 27 outs): 9.97 (1st in AL, 3rd in MLB)
SecA (Secondary Average- Measure of bases gained on plays such as extra base hits, walks, and stolen bases): .431 (6th in AL, 8th in MLB)
WAR (Wins Above Replacement Player- How many more wins the team can get with him than having someone else out there on the field): 4.8 (1st in AL, only behind Pittsburgh Outfielder Andrew McCutchen in MLB).
Mark Trumbo:
ISOP (Isolated Power, which measures a players raw power [Slugging% minus Batting Average])
WAR (explained above) 3.5 (7th in MLB).
Simply enough, there is a force to be reckoned with. Please enjoy this video, of the TNT boys, our 2nd version! We hope you enjoy!
