GAME 59 - REDS AT ANGELS

ANAHEIM – Angels starting pitcher Ramon Ortiz pitched seven strong inning, but the Angels bullpen gave up two runs in the eighth that were the difference in the Cincinnati Reds’ 4-3 win over the Angels before 29,881 at Edison Field.

Ortiz gave up two runs and four hits in his seven innings, leaving with the game tied, 2-2. But Dennis Cook and Ben Weber combined to give up two hits and two walks in the eighth, allowing the Reds to push across two runs.

The Angels scored once in the bottom of the ninth on Bengie Molina’s RBI groundout, but it was not enough.

The Angels had eight hits in the game, led by Garret Anderson, who had two, raising his season average to .310.
