In their first meeting with Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, the Angels struggled to grind out two runs, striking out 11 times in the first seven innings. Angels starter Garrett Richards delivered a quality performance through seven strong innings, allowing just two runs on two hits. But New York scored the eventual game winning run off a wild pitch in the eighth to squeak out the victory.
