One of the most athletic players in the Angels organization is outfielder Michael Hermosillo (officially listed as Miguel Hermosillo). A two-way star in high school (both football and baseball), the Angels were able to pry him away from playing football at several Division 1 colleges to play baseball professionally.
Capable of playing all 3 outfield spots, Hermosillo may be best suited for centerfield. He’s a plus runner with a good arm. He takes good routes and gets good jumps. Offensively, he’s got some power (12 of his 28 hits have been for extra bases out of 108 ABs at the time of this writing) and can work the count (14 BBs so far). Down the road, Hermosillo may become a leadoff hitter, or could hit at the bottom of the order where he can put all his tools into play.
One of the youngest players on the Owlz roster, Hermosillo is holding his own against the league. We believe that Hermosillo has plenty more to show as a pro now that he is focusing solely on baseball, and will be a player to watch develop and move up the prospect lists.
