ANGELS BASEBALL ANNOUNCES JAPAN DAY 2010

WHAT: An event intended to raise awareness of the Japanese culture among Angel fans. The event will consist of a pre-game VIP dinner in the Diamond Club with special guest, the Honorable Junichi Ihara, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles Japan Day at Angel Stadium will feature booths and demonstrations for fans to experience the Japanese culture through informational displays, product sampling and entertainment. Fans will have the opportunity to experience the Japanese culture through exciting demonstrations of Karate, Okinawa Dance and Taiko Drums.

WHO: Angels Baseball, the Japan America Society of Southern California, the Orange County Japan America Association. Event sponsors include Fed Ex, Nitto, Yakult, Nikkan Daily and Toro Sushi.

WHEN: Japan Day at Angel Stadium will begin at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 10.

WHERE: The Japan Day festivities on May 10 will be at the Home Plate entrance to Angel Stadium.

Japan America Society of Southern California is a non-profit, charitable and educational organization consisting of individuals and corporations with an interest in United States–Japan relations. The Society was founded on February 21, 1909 to build economic, cultural, governmental and personal relationships between the people of Japan and America. Its membership is open to the public and currently includes 130 corporate and more than 2,000 individual members. In 2009, the Society is marking its 100th anniversary with an eighteen-month long series of cultural, business-oriented and commemorative offerings that will celebrate the rich history of the United States–Japan relationship. The Society is proud to support Angeles Baseball’s inaugural Japan Day as one of its Centennial Celebration events.

The Orange County Japanese American Association (OCJAA) is a California nonprofit corporation that provides a wide variety of services and cultural activities to Japanese community and those interested in the Japanese community and culture.

Services provided include Information and Referral Social Services, Health Insurance Counseling and Health and Educational seminars. The OCJAA publishes 3,000 copies of free bilingual monthly newsletter, Orange Network, which are distributed throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County to provide information to the Japanese Community.
