June 6, 1991 the California Angels beat the Boston Red Sox 3-2 at Anaheim Stadium. Dave Winfield would hit a solo home run and Wally Joyner batted in 2 runs for the Angels scoring. Mark Langston pitched 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 4 for the win and Bryan Harvey would pitch 1 2/3 innings for his 14th save. Bryan Harvey was signed as an amateur free agent by the Angels in 1984 and made his mlb debut with the team in 1987. He would start closing games for the Angels in 1988 through 1992, but was injured mid-way through the 1992 season and ended up sharing saves with Joe Grahe. 1991 would be Harvey's best season when he led the American league with 46 saves (Angel club record at the time), make his first All-Star team, win the AL Rolaids Relief Man of the Year award (even garnering some Cy Young votes that year), have a 1.60 ERA and strike out 101 batters in 78 2/3 innings (33% of the batters he faced). His 46 saves as an Angel rank 4th for a single season, bettered by Francisco Rodriguez twice and Brian Fuentes in 2009 and his 126 saves as an Angel rank 3rd behind Troy Percival and Francisco Rodriguez. The Angels did not leave Harvey protected at the end of 1992 and he was the 20th overall pick by the Florida Marlins in the expansion draft that year.
