Around Angels Stadium, a fan can find a lot of treasures. Whether it's the trophy from 2002 behind home plate, to the statue of Michelle Carew in the garden off the first base side, there are a lot of special things to see at the ballpark.
For me, though, one of the greatest treasures that the Angels have isn't so much a what--it's a who. No trip to the Angels Press Box is complete without spending a few minutes listening to Clyde Wright. His stories, his sense of humor, and his call-it-like-he-sees-it manner makes for an incredible time. Asked if he had some time to answer some questions for AngelsWin.com he said "Well, there's only a 50/50 chance I'll live that long, so let's give it a shot!"
As one of the eight pitchers in Angels' history who has thrown a no-hitter, I sat down with Clyde to talk about the magic that Ervin wove in his game against Cleveland. We also spoke about the Angels' playoff race, and the events that happened in Detroit between Weaver and Verlander.
Fans, remember, Clyde pitched in a different era, when things were handled differently. And, the opinions he shares are his, and only his.
