Salt Lake - The Bees won 9-6 on Monday improving to 54-63 on the season. Offensively, Paul McAnulty and Alexi Amarista were the stars of the game. The 30 year old McAnulty blasted 2 home runs improving his OPS to .892. The 22 year old Amarista went 3-4 with a walk, lifting his August batting average to .342. Jerome Williams picked up the win for the Bees improving to 6-2, going 7 innings allowing 4 earned runs, striking out 5 and walking none.
Arkansas - Pitching was the story in Arkansas, where 3 Travs pitchers combined to only give up 1 run. Matt Shoemaker went 8 innings surrendering the only run of the night. Jeremy Berg and "I like my ERA at 0" David Carpenter each had a scoreless inning in relief. Luis "Lucho" Jimenez looks to be back in a groove after missing a week with a bone bruise on his foot, he went 2-5 with 2 doubles. Mike Trout finished the night 1-4 with his 32nd stolen base of the year.
Inland Empire - Kole Calhoun and Carlos Ramirez continued to show why they should be in Arkansas soon. Calhoun went 1-2 with 2 walks and a double. Ramirez 2-4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Kevin Johnson pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, striking out 2 and walking none, as the 66ers won 7-4.
Cedar Rapids - The Kernals are losers of 4 straight now, dropping Monday's game 8-2. The only bright spots of the game were 24 year old Erik Gregersen pitching a scoreless inning, and Travis Witherspoon going 2-4 with a home run (his 10th) and a stolen base (his 41st). A "hang with 'em" night for Cedar Rapids.
Orem - The Owlz once again show why they are the most talented team in the Angels' minor league system. They took the victory 11-5 where Lindsey and Ryan Jones were the talk of the night. Lindsey is having a terrific season for Orem. On Monday he went 3-5 with 2 doubles and HR, putting his OPS well above 1.000. Undrafted outfielder Ryan Jones went 4-5 missing the cycle by a home run. He is hitting .318 for the Owlz. Cowart (2-4, double, home run) and Trevor Hairgrove (3-5) also had great nights.
