GAME 79 - DODGERS AT ANGELS
ANAHEIM – After struggling for most of the season, Angels starting pitcher Aaron Sele finally put it all together in a 7-0 victory, throwing a three-hit shutout over the Dodgers before 43,502 at Edison Field.
Sele made 124 pitches, striking out five and walking one. Despite the shutout, his season ERA remained high (5.03), but improved his record to 7-5. All three of the Dodgers’ hits were singles.
The Angels gave Sele more than enough offensive support, banging out 14 hits, including three each from Darin Erstad and Tim Salmon. Salmon drove in three and hit his 13th home run of the season.
Troy Glaus and Benji Gil had two hits apiece for the Angels, who remained 4 ½ games behind Seattle in the A.L. West.
