GAME 113 - ANGELS AT WHITE SOX
CHICAGO – Royce Clayton’s single with one out in the bottom of the ninth off Angels reliever Brendan Donnelly drove home Carlos Lee and lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 7-6 comeback victory before 14,253 at Comiskey Park.
Thanks to home runs by David Eckstein and Troy Glaus and two hits and two RBIs from Garret Anderson, the Angels took a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth.
But Angels starter Kevin Appier gave up two in the bottom of the sixth, allowing the White Sox to get close, and the bullpen – Ben Weber, Scott Schoeneweis and Donnelly – couldn’t hold the lead.
With the loss, the Angels fell 2 ½ games behind Seattle in the A.L. West, but hold a 1 ½-game lead over Boston and Seattle in the wild-card race.
