Source: 95% Chance that former Los Angeles Angels infielder Brandon Wood lands with Pirates

According to a source close to the negotiations, the Pittsburgh Pirates should be announcing their waiver claim on ex-Angel infielder Brandon Wood by 12 PM EST.

The source indicated that Clint Hurdle has said that he would love to have Brandon Wood in a pirates uniform, and they have the first shot at him on waivers. The source went on to say that it can be a good fit for Wood and he should be able to move right into the shortstop position with the trouble they have had there, that Hurdle can help him get back to his natural swing since Hurdle was more of a power hitting coach than Mike Scioscia and Mickey Hatcher.

Update/Confirmation: According to The Pirates beat writer Colin Dunlap, the Pirates will "almost certainly" place a waiver claim on Brandon Wood before Friday's 12:00 ET deadline.
