Salt Lake - The Bees had a lead all the way until the 9th until they blew it and took the loss. First baseman Efren Navarro (Former 50th round pick) had 2 home runs, giving him a .300 average, 8 homers and 59 RBIs with gold glove defense. Michael Kohn once again gave it up in the 9th, allowing 4 runs while just getting 2 outs. His ERA now sits at 4.35. Lefty Matt Meyer worked a scoreless inning and now has a 1.35 ERA in his short amount of time in Salt Lake. Hank Conger was given a day off.

Arkansas - The Travs were dominated on every side of the ball today, losing 7-1. Trout went 0-4, Jimenez 0-2. The only hits of the game were from fringe prospect Roberto Lopez. On the other side of the ball, not much positives either. Andrew Taylor walked 8 batters, yes 8 that is not a type-o, and gave up 4 runs in 5 innings. In relief, Mike Piazza (not him) game up 3 earned in 3 innings of work. Bad day for the Travs.

Inland Empire - The 66ers were out slugged on Wednesday, 12-9. Kole Calhoun blasted his 20th home run of the year, going 2-3 and walking once. That is his 70th (!) walk of the season. Crazy good year for Calhoun. Outfielder David Harris finished a single away from the cycle. Oliver, Bailey, and Long chipped in with 2 hits each. Max Russell started and was obliterated by the Mavericks. Russell, making his 4th start in high-A ball, surrendered 9 hits and 6 runs in just 5 innings of work. Every other reliever was hit hard. Jean Segura took ground balls and ran a few days ago.

Cedar Rapids - The Kernels (I have been spelling it wrong the whole time) lost 4-2. Not much going on offensively. Grichuk went 1-4 with a double, his average has been hovering right around .210. Center fielder Travis Witherspoon is just 1 for his last 13. Starter PilJoon (PJ) Jang went 6 innings, giving up 4 runs, walking 4 and striking out just 1. He has a 4.13 ERA. Manny Correa went 2 innings in relief, giving up 0 runs and striking out 4.

Orem - The Owlz, yeah you guessed it, lost 7-6. Nick Maronde was very good again, striking out 8 in his 4 innings of work, he allowed just 1 run. He has 32 strike outs in just 29 innings of work. Ryan Jones continues to hit the snot out of the ball, going 2-4 with his 10th home run. He is hitting .442 in his last 10. Frazier Hall had a double and a home run raising his OPS to 1.034, and Jerod Yakubik went 3-5. Nick Mutz allowed 3 hits and 2 runs in 1.1 innings, and blew the win for the Owlz.

AZL Angels - THEY WON! The AZL Angels beat the Dodgers 10-2, and there is some really good news here. Top pitching prospect Fabio Martinez-Mesa made an appearance pitching 0.2 innings in relief. He had a ridiculous, crazy, unreal, stupid good 12.2 K's per 9 last year. A ton of players had 2 hits so let's just run down the names. Moesquit, Bandy, Borenstein, Nappi, Young, Scioscia, Gowens, Workman. Whew! This totaled 10 runs for the Angels. Reliever Francisco Rodriguez made a rehab appearance allowing another run in 1 inning. Alex Burkard went 6 strong, allowing just 1 run, and striking out 1.

DSL Angels - Hurtado was at it again. 7 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 8 strike outs, 1 walk. This gem lowered his ERA to 1.45. I fully expect to see the 19 year old Daniel Hurtado in Orem or Cedar Rapids next year. Offensively, Ismael Dionicio went 2-4 and swiped his 15th stolen base of the year. The Angels won 3-0.

Prospect of the night - Kole Calhoun.
